Review :
It's really a shame Cynic didn't get signed early on their carreer, remaining an underground favorite releasing only demos for most part of their time together.
This demo shows a great improvement over the previous one. The three songs here are really amazing and show a band fully developed, a tech-thrash monster.
First of all, the musicianship is amazing. All players on the band are highly skilled. Sean Reinert already started to incorporate jazz influences here, and his drum lines are very intricate, aggressive and precise, althought not nearly as much as on his later work. Jason Gobel and Paul Masvidal deliver sharp aggressive riffs and very complex solos. The addition of Tony Choy on bass gave another dimension to Cynic, since he is a very skilled and creative bass player. Paul Masvidal vocals here are quite fun and far away from the "Focus" vocals. They're a raspy scream with a lot of work on diction. You can hear the words very clearly. His vocals remind me a bit of Sabbat's Martin Walkyer, but with not as much range.

Quite Possibly The Greatest Album Ever
Yes, I am not the slightest bit exaggerating with the title of this review. I seriously believe Rust in Peace is probably the best album ever. I have lots of albums I really love. I know albums that I listen to a lot that are heavier. I know albums I listen to that are faster. I know albums I listen to a lot that are more technical. Not that all three of these musical traits aren't present on Rust In Peace of course, but never in my life have I heard an album with more focus, better composition, and more memorable songwriting than Rust In Peace by the great Megadeth. And while Megadeth did some excellent stuff both before and after this, they have yet to scale these heights again...this is just absolutely phenomenal...
Overall, Rust in Peace is a thrash classic, and easily Megadeth's best album. It features Megadeth at their best, with technical riffing, very impressive shredding and soloing, and some nice bass work. Though Megadeth doesn�t fall completely off the face of the planet with their next album, as hard as they try the band will not match their maximum opus, Rust in Peace, nor do they even record an album that sounding similar. The band claims that the next Megadeth album could fit into the band's RiP - CtE era (as well as some more commercial elements), but can it top Rust in Peace? Unlikely, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Review :
Black Reign, a not very well known side-project of the famous Agent Steel singer John Cyriis. I am a big fan of his singing and music, so I decided one day that I'll hunt down all his demos and stuff. Well after a loooong, looong searching and seeking I finally got it and I was really amazed...I heard a lot of rumors about this demo but I never expected something this good. ''Legion'' is a 15 min long demo that amazed me due too it's short lenght. There are three songs here, and really, one better than the other. It's very hard to describe the music that Black Reign are playing, it is definetily something in vein of Agent Steel, but on the other hand it has a music of it's own. Strange Speed/Thrash metal, with some pretty good riffs and solos that literally brought the ''Armageddon is near'' feeling, straight too my room. A bit doomy, but sometimes really sad atmosphere, that will just make you feel like it's all over...you have to hear it to know what I mean. This band could be one of those bands with genre hard to describe, if they wouldn't (like every other band that Cyriis was involved with) simply quit!
