Review :

The year was 2002, the love it or hate it "Warriors of the World" album had just been released. When the kings of metal announced "The Dawn of Battle" single, there were many skeptics. The line was drawn between the lovers and the haters of "Warriors of the World". With this in mind, this new single would have a great impact on Manowar's fan base.

The major problem with "Warriors of the World" was the fact that it contained two awful tracks compared to Manowar's standards. "An American Trilogy" and "Nessun Dorma" were filler on a brilliant album. This said, the two new songs present on the "The Dawn of Battle" single had to be very ass kicking to redeem "Warriors of the World". But this review is not about that album so let's focus on the task at hand.

The first track off this single is a new one called "The Dawn of Battle". This tune starts off superbly with a heavy riff and drum beat. Once Eric Adams enters the picture, the song can only get better...and it does. "The Dawn of Battle" is an instant classic and fan favourite. The chorus is simple but beautiful. The line "My sword will drink blood" is sure to make every wimp and poser run for the nearest exits. This is what the song is all about and the atmosphere that it creates. The drumming on this song is masterful. Scott Columbus really owns the drum kit and uses the double kick perfectly. The song slows down a little before the four minute mark, which gives Eric Adams a chance to showcase his Godly voice. He utilises this opportunity to his advantage. When the song picks up again at the five minute mark, Manowar delivers a swift ass kicking upon the listener.

Up next is the new song, "I Believe". Like "The Dawn of Battle" this tune is a winner. "I Believe" starts off with a classic epic Manowar intro. The organ kicks into pure heavy metal. Eric Adams starts off with very dark vocals but then enters the extremely catchy chorus. This song is definitely going to become a fan favourite at live performances. Karl Logan provides a killer solo increasing the lovability of this track.

Next on deck is "Call to Arms". This masterpiece can be found on "Warriors of the World". This song is one Manowar's best ever and ranks very high up with other anthems like "Kill with Power" and "Hail and Kill". A brilliant song.
In conclusion, this single is a must for all the casual fans and the legions of followers that the modern day warriors have gained over the years. This single is essential because it replaces the void that was left by "Warriors of the World" for the haters but also adds to the awesomeness of the experience for all the lovers of the album. Scott Columbus and Eric Adams provide outstanding performances but we can't forget the amazing talent that Karl Logan and the master, Joey DeMaio display. "The Dawn of Battle" is highly recommended for its glorious title track but also for the other incredible songs.

''Trilogy of The Stellar Cult : (Vehicle 1) Xerpion Particle Storm'' was the supposed first title of the Stellar Seed album trilogy, but there are many news about Cyriis disbanding the project and so the future of Stellar Seed remains a mistery.

Review :

In the year 2002, Mr. Cyriis re-appeared to the scene after he dissapeared for almost a decade. Rumours were that he was abducted by the aliens, that he was hiding from god knows who and what, that he died...but no one exactly knew where he was and what he was up to. However, after being involved with many projects that never released anything more than a demo, he, together with a rather unknown Japanese guitarist Shuichi Oni, returned to the scene with a new thing called Stellar Seed. He launched a new Official Site which had a promo (live) recording of their new song called Godz Of Man that was available for download some time ago, but now the site is no more on the internet. Stellar Seed were planning on releasing a Trilogy called: ''Trilogy of The Stellar Cult'', and the first part ''Vehicle 1 - Xerpion Particle Storm'' was supposed to be released in fall of 2003, but as the latest news tell, Stellar Seed is no longer active and the whole thing will probably never see the light of day. Shuichi Oni is involved in a new project called S.E.T.I. and nothing is certain for John Cyriis.

However let's focus on the song now. ''The Godz Of Man'' is definetily something unique, what I've never heard before. The song starts off with some quiet strange alien vocies in the background and soon the guitars begin their, pretty cool riff that goes on through almost the whole song. In about 15 seconds or so the drums kick in and besides them, some eerie wailing effects probably created by Cyriis' voice. The whole song is fast-paced with altogether rather unispired riffs and the production is overpowered by plenty of sinth effects that create a really eerie atmosphere. The mastermind - Cyriis sounds like he's being abducted by aliens. He doesn't exactly sing much but he mostly recites lyrics but also does some really high shrieks, I could say that he still sounds like back in the old days, but he just doesn't have the same the same vocal interests anymore, at least I got this kind of impression listening this song. It's really hard to say what kind of genre Stellar Seed play...I would say it sounds like some new age/thrash, but in other words: This is really more like a prayer to the Extra-Terresials with a metal background. The sound is pretty okay for a demo, but the guitars ruin it all with their ''bumble-bee'' sound, otherwise it's fine.
This would definitely be a very interesting and inovative new thing on the metal scene, but unfortunatelly some time ago Stellar Seed called it quits and now we can only wait for Mr. Cyriis to reappear once again.

Review :

I think the best thing about Hammerfall is the actual music, Cans is not the strongest vocalist, the lyrics are cheesy as heck, and the ballads would make Celine Dion cry. However, the music is top notch power/heavy metal.

Another cry from bashers is that these Swedes are not original. True, I will concede that point but the great thing is that they take influences from many bands and not just one. Many power metal bands want to be Helloween, Hammerfall want to be Helloween, Accept, Dokken, Manowar, DIO, etc...They take some of the great elements of these legendary bands and mix it up to create an awesome power metal stew?

Anyhoo, to the songs. This album starts with a couple of scorchers - Riders of the Storm, Hearts on Fire, and On The Edge of Honour. You may have to pause here because the headbangin' is quite fierce. Catch your breath and move on to the title track which is a mid paced cruncher and very good.

Then you have the instrumental and Trailblazers which is another speedy ass kicker. The dual lead guitars are intense and heavy. This leads me again to the point of great music. The great thing about Hammerfall is the guitar work. Its a great balance of crunch and shredding. They shred but not to the point of wankery. They just seem to realize how much of a solo you actually need. No more, no less.

Next up is the typical Hammerfall ballad - Dreams Come True. All I can say is that if you hate their ballads, this won't change your mind.

The five remaining tracks are prolly the best set of 5 songs that Hammerfall ever put on record. You have 2 amazing covers in Chastain's Angel of Mercy (this could be one of the great covers of all time) and Yngwie's Rising Force. Both are respectfully done and given a little extra kick.

In Memoriam is an instrumental but this is not an intro/outro. This is classic metal. Great song. Definately don't skip this one.

The other 2 tracks are some of the best original Hammerfall songs of all time, IMO. They are The Unforgiving Blade and Hero's Return. This is metal that is energetic, fun, and still kick ass. The choruses are grand but catchy and the guitars sizzle throughout.

Well, what can I say, Hammerfall have recorded a monster of an album...AGAIN. These guys deliver the goods time and time again. Some respect is deserved.
